Should we chose manual unloading or self unloading overband magnet?
The application use manual unloading overband magnetic separator or self unloading overband magnet basically determined by the quantity of iron content in the material flow.
We can chose manual unloading overband magnet when the material contains less iron pieces, the iron pieces can be cleaned from the magnet bottom after long time operation by manpower.
If the material contains a lot of irons and it is not practical or economical to use manpower for cleaning purpose, then we should use self unloading overband magnet over manual cleaning model.

Chose Permanent Magnet or Electromagnet ?
Several factors of application will affect the choice of using permanent cross belt magnetic separator or electromagnet separator.
Magnetic Reach Out:
Electromagnet use cable coil is the source of magnetic field which leads to more deep reach out and penetration of magnetic force. So electromagnet separator is more suitable for the applications which have thick material burden depth and high density of material, such as coal or cement industry.
Permanent cross belt magnetic separator use permanent magnet as the power source of magnetic field which is applicable for most of the separation situation, it can also use with a magnetic head pulley installed at the end of conveyor to separate iron at the bottom of material to reach better separation results.
Machine Size and weight:
Permanent Cross belt magnetic separator structure is more compact and less weight compare to Electromagnet separator.
Power Consumption:
The magnetic field of permanent cross belt magnet do not require outside electric power source to generate, the only power consumption of cross belt magnet is the motor drives the discharge belt.
The magnetic field of electromagnet separator is generated by electric power which means it will bring continuous power consumption to keep the existing of magnetic field.
Magnetic Intensity:
Standard Electromagnet separator and higher magnetic intensity and depth reach out than standard ferrite magnet system overband magnetic separator, but without long year experience and optimized design of magnet system, now we can use ferrite and rare earth magnet assembly to reach better magnetic intensity and magnetic force reach out and keep the machine size and weight being the same as standard model.
